Beautiful Moselle River with ancient family castle »Burg Eltz« and city of Cochem (only peak Saison)

While all the old castles usually are on hills and high rocks, “Burg Eltz” is hidden down in the woods, unusual, same as its purpose: a majestic castle, dating back to 1160 AD. designed and constructed for a family clan who still occupies part of it today. It’s among the most picturesque and charming castles in Germany. Great guided tour.

Comparing the attractiveness of the Rhine and the Moselle is a constant topic among travelers. We follow the Moselle upstream along some scenic parts to the old city of Cochem and its prominent, rebuilt castle, the “Reichsburg”.
On our way back we will pass the city of Koblenz and see the national highlight of patriotic significance: the merging of Germany’s most prominent rivers, Old Father Rhine and the young maiden Moselle.
