If desired, the tour can be extended into Austria, via Passau and Linz to Vienna.

Black Forest and German Alpine Road

This tour is a great combination of scenery and cultural highlights. The Black Forest, one of Germanys most picturesque regions, stretches from Baden-Baden to the Swiss border and offers many lovely spots such as the city of Freiburg with its famous one-spire gothic cathedral, quaint villages with shops offering cuckoo clocks and “Kirschwasser” (fire water made from cherries).

The area of Alsace with its charming villages and gourmet restaurants is close by, across the river Rhine.

On the way to Konstanz we pass the Rhine waterfall at Schaffhausen. From lake Constance we start on our tour through the German Alps visiting well known places, like Garmisch, Mittenwald and Oberammergau. We will also see two of the King Ludwig’s castles, romantic Neuschwanstein, the Gothic fairytale, and the beautiful Rococo Linderhof castle

German Castle and Romantic Road

The road from Heidelberg to the golden city of Prague is one of the most popular routes for foreign visitors.

Heidelberg castle, although in ruins since 1689, still is a proud monument to Renaissance architecture. What a view from its terrace across the town and the Neckar river!

Down in its legendary vaults are the world largest wine barrels, as big as houses: The “Grosse Fass” put there in 1751 for collecting the farm people’s tribute in wine holds 221.000 liters, more than 55.000 gallons.

Along the scenic Neckar River we pass many old castle, the wine-blessed hills of Heilbronn, to Rothenburg, a unique medieval walled town. Then to the center of arts and crafts in the middle ages, Nuremberg, the city of Albrecht Duerer, Germanys most renowned artist around 1500 A.D.

There are many more interesting places, Bamberg, Kronach, Karlsbad, Bayreuth, until we reach the Golden City of Prague for a special 3 day sightseeing program.

Romantic Road from Wuerzburg to Fuessen is the oldest and most famous tourist route in Germany, holding many treasures of art and culture of bygone days. Starting from Wurzburg via Rothenburg, with its medieval city wall, the road goes to the Alps and includes the Bavarian castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof.

Baltic Sea with Denmark, Island of Rügen and Hanseatic Cities

Bremen and Hamburg, Germanys largest port cities, are our first and second goals, both modern, yet old Hanseatic cities. Onward we cross into Denmark at Flensburg and continue across the islands of Fünen and Seeland en route to Copenhagen. This is Viking country with many historic sites of this fabled people. Copenhagen is a shopper’s paradise, not to mention the market store of the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain factory.

Others, meanwhile, pay a visit to the Carlsberg and Tuborg breweries or to the fantastic National Museum. Not to forget: The Tivoli Gardens.

Driving across to Sweden over the new Oresund bridge (European’s longest) we take the ferry across the Baltic see to the German island of Ruegen. This area, since the reunification in 1991, has developed into one of Germany’s best tourist attractions.

The mighty city of Lübeck, where the Hanseatic League, the first international trade and commerce organization, was founded in the 13th century, with its magnificent gothic churches in “brick-architecture” is on our way back to Cologne or Frankfurt.
